    VR Main Pavilion
    Proposed
    Picture Cut Home

This residential project in the Kumeu landscape was designed as a contemporary house characterized by a modern form whose proportions and details draw from the best historical patterns.

It was proposed to split the program into two solids - a residential and serving part. Both blocks are connected by a common, axial route, from which access to the house and technical rooms in the serving building are available. Moving the entrance to the center so that it opens onto the technical foreground facilitates house-garage communication and goes along with an easily noticeable tendency to move the main entrances from the front wall into the depths of the plot.

Cedar shiplap in the form of overlapping boards and in-situ concrete was proposed as a finishing material for the walls.

The internal functional layout has been designed as double-bay, and the layout of the rooms subjected to zoning. The ground floor of the residential part is a typical day zone with technical rooms and a guest room. The kitchen, dining room and living room were designed as one route open to the north terrace, pool and garden through a panoramic glazing with sliding doors.
